Planting quiet seeds
We live in a loud culture. It is the culture of “Big Dreams.”
We are told to “hustle.” We are told to “crush our goals.” We are told to build empires. We are told to shout our visions from the rooftops.
But for a quiet, introverted soul like me, that kind of dreaming feels exhausting.
It feels unsafe.
So, often, we stop dreaming altogether. We bury our hopes. We simply don’t have the energy for the “hustle.”
Reimagining the Dream
But God is a dreamer. He is a Creator. He has placed “holy longings” inside of you.
What if we reimagined dreaming?
What if we stopped trying to build a loud empire? What if we focused on planting a quiet seed?
Jesus talks about the Kingdom of God. He says it is like a seed scattered on the ground (Mark 4:26).
The farmer sleeps. The farmer rises. Night and day.
The seed sprouts and grows. He knows not how.
Trusting the Soil
You don’t have to force your future. You don’t have to strive.
You just have to plant the seed of a quiet hope. You plant it in the fertile soil of God’s faithfulness. Then you trust Him with the growth.
Your dreams can be small. They can be quiet. They can be slow.
They can still be profoundly holy.
yOUR pROMPTS
Prompts for Quiet Dreaming
Use your journal to find the seed.
- The “Mustard Seed” Dream: “If I didn’t have to ‘hustle’ for it, what is one small, quiet dream I would love to see grow in my life? (A deeper prayer life? Writing a poem? A peaceful home?)”
- The “Hustle” Check: “What lie about ‘success’ is keeping me from starting small? (It has to be big to matter? I’m too old? I’m not talented enough?)”
- The Planting: “What is one tiny, unseen action I can take today to ‘plant’ this seed? (Buy the notebook. Pray about it. Spend 10 minutes learning.)”
- A Prayer of Patience: “Lord, I am planting this quiet hope. I trust You to be the Gardener. Give me the patience to watch it grow, ‘knowing not how.’”
yOUR ACTION POINT
Your Action Points: The “Secret” Project
We protect young seeds by keeping them underground.
- Start a “Secret Project.“
- Joy. It is something you do just for the joy of it. You do it just for God.
- Silence. Don’t post it on social media. Don’t tell everyone.
- Water. Just water that seed for 15 minutes a day (or week).
Let it be a quiet, holy secret between you and your Creator.
This protects the seed from the pressure of the world.
With love, Debbera
