Your Hearts Desire

Your Hearts Desire

Welcome to this week’s reflection. As new seasons arrive, they often bring a fresh wave of desires. But sometimes, the thing we think we want is not actually the thing we truly crave. The desire for a new job might really be a deeper desire for respect. The desire for a quiet holiday could be a longing for lasting peace. A yearning for a relationship might simply be the profound desire to be truly seen.

This week, we are taking this moment together to dig beneath the surface.

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart

Psalm 37:4

Your Journaling Prompt

Write down three things you currently want. Then for each one, gently ask yourself “why?” three times.

Here is an example to guide you:

  • I want: A break.
  • Why? Because I am exhausted.
  • Why? Because I have been carrying everything alone.
  • Why? Because I believe asking for help means I have failed.

The third “why” is usually the real desire. It is rarely about the thing on the surface. It is about the wound, the belief or the deeper need beneath it.

Write down what you find. Sit with it. Do not rush to fix it or change it. Just allow yourself to see it clearly and hold space for exactly where you are.

Your Mood Check In

Where is your hope right now?

  1. Hibernating. I cannot feel it yet.
  2. Thawing. It is there, but fragile.
  3. Emerging. Cautious but present.
  4. Growing. I am starting to believe again.
  5. Blooming. Something has shifted and I can feel it.

Write your number in your journal. Take a few quiet moments to write about what has moved or shifted that number since last month.

Your Closing Prayer

Lord, give us the courage to look beneath the surface of our everyday wants. When we are exhausted, remind us that we do not have to carry everything alone. When our hope feels fragile, sit with us in the quiet. Help us to bring our deepest, truest needs to You, trusting that You see us, You love us, and You hold the genuine desires of our hearts with tender hands. Amen.

Yours in faith, Debbera
