Spring announces itself quietly here with small mercies. The slow, almost imperceptible shift in how the light falls across your kitchen table.
This is how beginnings often feel for those of us who live in the interior landscape. Just a sense of things stirring beneath the surface, even when everything on the outside looks exactly the same as it did the previous week.
You Have Been Waiting for Permission
You may have been waiting for permission to begin. Perhaps you have been waiting for the perfect moment, the perfect circumstances, the version of yourself that feels completely ready. But spring does not wait for the forest to feel ready. The seeds do not wait for certainty. They crack open in the dark, reaching toward a light they cannot yet see.
There is a scripture that holds this truth:
“He has made everything beautiful in its time”
Ecclesiastes 3:11
Not beautiful in our timing. Not beautiful when everything is perfect. Beautiful in its own unfolding season. The beauty of your beginning is not diminished by its smallness or its uncertainty. It is simply beautiful in this moment, in this particular way.
We are walking into something different together. We are practicing the art of beginning before we feel ready. Beginning while we are still fragile. Beginning while we still doubt.
The invitation this week is simple: notice what wants to begin. Not what you think should begin. Not what others expect to begin. But what, in the quiet places of your heart, is stirring toward the light.
- What small hope have you been carrying?
- What dream have you kept small because it did not feel safe to let it grow?
You have permission. Not permission to be perfect. Permission to be ready or confident or certain. Just permission to begin, exactly as you are, with exactly what you have.
Journaling Prompts
Take your journal to a quiet place this week and sit with these prompts. Do not rush through them. Let each question settle into you and write whatever comes without editing or judging.
When you imagine a shift in your life, what is the very first image or feeling that comes?
Do not edit it. Just notice what arrives. Is it colour? A sensation in your body? A memory? A whisper of something not yet named? There are no wrong answers here.
What have you been waiting to begin?
Write down the first thing that comes to mind, without questioning whether it is big enough or important enough. It might be something you have been wanting to write, create, change or become. It might be something you barely allow yourself to think about. This question is just asking you to name it.
If permission was already yours (because it is), what becomes possible?
What small step could you take this week that would be true to your heart? Not a grand gesture. Just one small movement toward what matters to you.
What does fragile hope mean to you? Can you name one fragile hope you are carrying right now?
Not the loud hopes that everyone knows about. The quiet ones. The ones you have been protecting, keeping small so they do not hurt too much if they do not work out.
Your Ritual: Permission Anchor
Write on a small piece of paper or card the words, “Permission to begin.” You might also write the one thing you are beginning. Place this somewhere you will see it daily. This could be in your journal, on your bathroom mirror, tucked into your bedside table or anywhere that speaks to you.

Each morning this week, notice it. Let it settle within you. You do not need to do anything grand. Simply let yourself receive the permission that is already here.
If you prefer, you can create a visual anchor instead. A photograph of spring arriving. A colour that represents your beginning. A single object that holds the energy of your intention. Whatever form it takes, let it be something that reminds you, day after day that you are allowed to begin now.
What’s Coming Next Week
Next week, we will get quiet with the voice that keeps us waiting. The one that says “not yet.” We will understand what it is trying to protect us from and we will set it down.
For now, simply notice. Notice what is stirring. Notice what wants to begin. Let yourself receive the permission that is yours.
You are ready. Not perfect. Not certain. But ready.
Welcome to your beginning.
Yours in faith
