CREATE YOUR 5-MINUTE DAILY RITUAL
How did you wake up today?
Was it to the jolt of an alarm clock? Was it to your mind spinning with to-do lists?
So often, we roll out of bed. We go straight into the rush of the day. Our feet hit the floor. We are ready to rumble.
We react. We respond. We do.
But consider this.
What if we could give ourselves just five minutes? Just the time it takes for the kettle to boil. Just the time for our tea to steep.
What if we used that time to simply be?
Small Anchors
Journaling doesn’t have to be an hour-long commitment. It doesn’t have to be soul-searching.
It can be a simple, quiet ritual.
It is a small anchor. It holds you steady before the winds of the day begin to blow.
The 5-Minute Morning
Let’s create a 5-minute morning ritual, together. Join me for a cup of tea (or coffee).
1. The Invitation (1 Minute)
As your kettle boils, find your notebook. Find a pen you love. Find your favorite mug.
As you pour the hot water, think of it as an invitation. It is a quiet call to yourself. Come and sit for a moment.
Notice the steam. Notice the warmth in your hands. This is your small, sacred space.
2. The Anchor (1 Minute)
Before you even take a sip, sit down with your open page.
Take one slow, deep breath. Just one. Let it go.
Feel the chair beneath you. Feel the warmth of the mug in your hands.
Anchor yourself. Be right here. In this moment.
You are not on your phone. You are not planning your meetings. You are simply here.
3. The Words (3 Minutes)
Set a timer on your phone for three minutes. Or simply write until your tea is cool enough to drink.
Don’t worry about writing “well.” Just let your pen move.
If you’re staring at the blank page, try one of these simple prompts:
- For Gratitude: “What is one small, beautiful thing I can see or hear right now?”
- For Intention: “What is one word I want to carry with me today?”
- For Clarity: “What is one thing that feels heavy on my mind this morning?”
The Gift of Being Heard
When the three minutes are up. When your tea is ready.
Close your notebook. Take a sip.
That’s it. You’ve done it.
You have started your day not with a rush, but with a quiet conversation.
You have given yourself the gift of being heard before the world demands your attention.
And that, dear friend, is a beautiful way to begin.
With grace, Debbera
