Always Growing Moving Forward
As the season changes around us, I find myself looking closely at the ground beneath my feet. New things are incredibly fragile. They need someone who believes in them long before they have proven themselves.
There is a unique vulnerability that comes with beginning again and allowing something new to take root in your life. Whether it is a small shift in your daily rhythms, or a new dream stirring within your heart. This is a season to let yourself fully feel what is emerging.
We often expect growth to announce itself with certainty and strength. Yet the most meaningful transformation is usually quiet. It unfolds beneath the surface before it is ever visible to others. Growth invites patience, trust and the willingness to nurture what feels fragile. It asks us to guard our hearts carefully, protecting these tender beginnings from the voice of our inner critic and from the pressure to have everything figured out immediately.
There is courage in tending what is still small. There is faith in believing that what God has planted is worth nurturing even when the evidence of its future flourishing has yet to appear. Like a tiny green shoot pushing through the soil, new life often looks unimpressive before it becomes beautiful. Trust the process. God is at work in the hidden places, growing something stronger and more beautiful than you can yet imagine.
In these tender moments of waiting and tending, I lean heavily on this gentle promise:
“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 1:6
Your Journaling Prompt: The Spring Garden
Walk through your inner garden and look at the soil of your life today. Take your time with these three areas.
Part 1: The Bloom
Write down what has bloomed in your life, even if it is just a tiny, fragile leaf.
Part 2: The Wait
What is still resting underground? Name the things you are still waiting for. Ask yourself if you are okay with the wait.
Write down what that patience feels like in this current season.
Part 3: The Fence
What needs protection? What fragile thing in your life needs a boundary around it to keep it safe from doubt or from your own harsh voice?
As you build this fence, write down one area of growth you need to celebrate right now.
Your Action Point: The Welcome Statement
Take a deep breath and physically place your hand over your heart.
Speak this welcome statement out loud to yourself.
Let the words settle into the room.
“I welcome the woman who begins again. She is tender, hopeful and terribly brave.”
A Closing Prayer
Lord, help us to tend the fragile new things growing within us. When we feel vulnerable, give us the wisdom to build a sheltered space to protect our emerging hopes. Remind us that You are the one who begins a good work and faithfully carries it to completion. Give us the patience to wait for what is still resting underground and the joy to celebrate every small, beautiful bloom. Amen.
