Create your very own wellness day with all the benefits of being at a spa. Here are a few ideas and mix and match to your hearts content.
clothing
Go for the nicest, coziest loungewear you have. If you can wear your kimono for the day. It’s all about comfort and nesting today. Wear your most comfiest socks.
PREP WORK
Create different music playlists you can listen to that speaks to different moods.
Create and make self care baskets and stack them all over your home.
- These can be bathroom baskets filled with scented candles, bath bombs, your favorite shower gel, fluffy towels.
- Kitchen baskets filled with your favorite teas, biscuits, treats you can stack on during the day.
- Your journaling basket filled with washi tape, colorful pens, books, old magazines, anything that will move you into your creative flow.
- Your book baskets with all your favorite books and magazines that you would love to read.
- Create a skin care basket filled with masks, lotions that you can slather yourself with. Pamper yourself with a manicure and pedicure.
on your day
Switch off and pack away all your devices. Make a space where it is only you and you. If you have children take a day off work and give yourself these moments in between to be just you.
Wake up and prepare your favorite warm beverage. If you can go sit outside and enjoy the first morning breeze, listen to the sounds surrounding you. Enjoy the warmth of the cup in your hands. Be in the moment. If outside is not possible, sit in your favorite comfy chair, play some music in the background and just be in the moment while savoring every sip you take.
Be mindful, take 15 minutes where you just sit and listen to soft music. Close your eyes and allow yourself to think of nothing. Give yourself the freedom not to think about what you will make for supper, anything about work, finances, anything and everything that can worry you. It’s in these moments where you are letting go and trusting God to take care of you.
Make yourself a healthy breakfast. Listen to what your body wants. Have some oatmeal with cinnamon and berries, muesli and yoghurt or even make yourself a green smoothie. This is entirely up to you. Go cozy back in your favorite space and enjoy your breakfast.
Journaling pages. Take some time to journal your thoughts. You can use prompts or even to write free flowing thoughts. Allow yourself to feel and sit in your emotions. Sometimes we are so busy that we don’t acknowledge what we really are feeling and thinking. Journal and let it flow from your mind to paper. If you don’t want anybody to read your thoughts, create a moment where you let it go, your can either tear it up into pieces or create a space where you can burn it as a manifestation and a way of letting go.
Be outside, do some exercise. Go for a walk, be outside, take in the sun,
Indulge yourself with a relaxing revitalizing bath. In your bath add salts, rose petals, essential oils. Set the mood with candles, play your favorite music in the background. If you are like me you only have a shower, it is possible. Shower bombs work just as well, it’s amazing how the smells come up as you shower. Wash your stress away.
Relax with your favorite book. There are so many beautiful choices of books. Choose one from you book basket.
Lunch time. For lunch create your own buddha bowl, it’s easy to make and let it be part of your routine. There are so many recipes out there. You usually start with your base that is brown rice. For your vegetables you can choose from snap peas, snow peas or broccoli. Anything that steams well. I sometimes include cauliflower, it all up to you. You can add chopped raw veggies in the mix such as cabbage, spinach or kale. Dress up your bowl with avocado, sesame seeds, sea salt and black pepper. You can include thinly sliced cucumber, green onion, lime wedges. To taste you can use soy sauce or some or other ginger dressing.
Pamper yourself. Put a face mask on. Give yourself a manicure, pedicure or both. You can do this by listening to your favorite songs.
Be creative. Choose your own creative session, it can be painting, writing, gardening anything that speaks to your creative soul.
Be creative with dinner. Give yourself the day off and order in, it can be your favorite or your family’s favorite. Try something fun.
May your day be filled with peace, happiness and joy.
Take care – Debbera
