Be Intentional with Your Purpose: A Gentle Invitation to Begin Within
Have you ever paused in the middle of your day—maybe while sipping your morning tea or watching the clouds drift over Table Mountain—and asked yourself, “What am I really here for?”
It’s a big question, I know. But it’s also a beautiful one.
Being intentional with your purpose doesn’t mean having all the answers. It means choosing to live with awareness. To listen inward. To honour what matters most to you—even if it’s still unfolding.
Let’s explore this together, gently and with curiosity.
What Does It Mean to Be Intentional?
To me, being intentional is about slowing down enough to notice what lights you up—and then choosing to follow that light, one small step at a time.
It’s not about grand gestures or perfect plans. It’s about presence. About asking yourself, “Is this aligned with who I want to be?” and “Does this feel true to me?”
When we live with intention, we begin to shape our days around what matters most. And that’s where purpose begins to bloom.
Start with Stillness
Sometimes, the best way to reconnect with your purpose is to simply be still.
Find a quiet moment—maybe early in the morning when the world is soft and quiet, or in the golden light of late afternoon. Open your journal. Light a candle if you’d like. Breathe.
Then ask yourself:
- What feels meaningful to me right now?
- Where do I feel most alive?
- What do I want to give my energy to?
You don’t need to rush the answers. Let them come gently, like waves on the shore.
Let Journaling Be Your Guide
Your journal is a safe space to explore your purpose without pressure. It’s where you can ask the big questions, dream freely, and reflect on what’s working—and what’s not.
Here are a few prompts to help you begin:
- What does “living with purpose” mean to me?
- What do I want more of in my life?
- What am I ready to let go of?
- What small action can I take today that feels aligned with my purpose?
Write slowly. Let your thoughts unfold. There’s no right or wrong—just your truth.
Living with Intention, One Day at a Time
Being intentional doesn’t mean you have to change everything overnight. It means choosing, again and again, to come back to what matters.
For me, that looks like:
- Starting my mornings with journaling and quiet reflection.
- Creating space for creativity—whether it’s painting, writing, or taking photos on my walks through Cape Town.
- Saying yes to what feels nourishing, and no to what drains me.
- Trusting that small, consistent steps lead to meaningful change.
Your Turn
You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to begin—with honesty, with heart, and with a little time to listen inward.

Your Journaling Prompt
“What does living with intention look like for me today?”
Let your pen wander. Let your heart speak. And remember, your purpose doesn’t have to be loud or flashy. It just has to be yours.
